New Year New Vision: Eye Care Resolutions for 2025

With 2025 around the corner, have you started thinking about your New Year Resolutions?

When was the last time your thought about your eye health, have you considered making that your new priority in 2025?

1. Scheduling Regular Eye Exams

The biggest and most obvious one, try to keep to a schedule of having regular eye examinations to make sure your eyes are at optimal health. Eye tests serve as a proactive measure to detect early signs of eye diseases and conditions.

2. Practice Good Contact Lens Hygiene

Whilst easy to overlook, good contact lens hygiene can be the difference in you getting an eye infection or not. Replace lenses according to your plan and clean them properly using the solution provided. Avoid sleeping in contact lenses or rubbing your eyes whilst wearing them.

3. Wear Sunglasses for UV Protection

Invest in a good pair of sunglasses for 2025 to protect your eyes from harmful UV rays. Make sure to select a pair that offers both UVA and UVB protection. This will help to reduce the risk of cataracts and other eye conditions.

4. Eat a Well-Balanced Diet

The food you eat has a direct impact on the health of your eyes. Focus on eating a well-balanced diet including foods rich in vitamins A, C and E as well as Omega-3 fatty acids. Incorporate leafy greens, fish, nuts, and a variety of fruits into your diet to get the nutrients you need.

Smoking and excessive alcohol consumption have been linked to various eye diseases including macular degeneration and cataracts. Limiting or quitting can contribute significantly to long term eye health.

7. Incorporate the 20/20/20 Rule into Your Life

In 2025, every 20 minutes look at an object 20 feet away for at least 20 seconds. This simple eye exercise can help you keep your eyes at their very best.

8. Talk to Your Family About Their Eye Health

Schedule in a conversation with your family about their medical history as some eye conditions like Glaucoma can be hereditary.

9. Try Contact Lenses

What better time to try something new than in a new year? Contact lenses have many advantages especially for people who take part in sport or are generally on the go. Contact lenses could be for all day or just for special occasions as and when required.

10. Clean Out Your Makeup Bag
